Learn songs online

Every one's a lead player...

...Or so it seems. And please don't get me wrong - there's absolutely nothing wrong about wanting to shred away, or to be the center of attention as the lead guitar player :-) However, I urge you to learn how to play songs, not "just" solos!

There are several reasons for this. First of all it's easier to learn chord structure, harmony, melody, proper hand positioning and that "jazz", by taking time to play songs from the moment you begin your online guitar learning. Then of course, you might eventually want to learn how to blast out that impressive solo too :-)

Another point I'd like to mention is that it's easier to play with others if you can play songs. Would that probably increase your speed of learning? I dare you to think otherwise! Heck, it's easier by far to join a band if you know song structure.

And what about timing and rhythm - would these things improve by learning songs from the very moment you start your beginner guitar online venture? It's inevitable, all the time rhytm is such an integral part of song structure...

One last point for now. When you do start to pick up songs, make sure they are pieces you want to play - not something you are told to do. Oh, and do make sure you learn to use a pick and your fingers as well - it's vitally important further down the road!
